Boxing Day 2020 – Public Holiday Information

There is a lot of confusion around what days around Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Years Eve are classified as a public holiday so we thought we would put out a quick post to outline the details.

The days are classified different from state to state so it’s important to know which one’s are applicable in your state.

South Australia

Christmas Eve (24th December) – Part Day Public Holiday (7pm to midnight)
Christmas Day (25th December) – Public Holiday
Proclamation Day (28th December) – Public Holiday
New Year’s Eve (31st December) – Part Day Public Holiday (7pm to midnight)

Please Note: 26th December is not a public holiday in South Australia.

Victoria

Christmas Day (25th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day (26th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day Additional Day (28th December) – Public Holiday

New South Wales

Christmas Day (25th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day (26th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day Additional Day (28th December) – Public Holiday

Western Australia

Christmas Day (25th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day (26th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day Additional Day (28th December) – Public Holiday

Tasmania

Christmas Day (25th December) – Public Holiday
Boxing Day (28th December) – Public Holiday
